When Freehold Township and Marlboro meet again in 2027, the Patriots will return to a matchup that produced one of the signature victories of their inaugural season.
On April 21, 2026, Freehold Township traveled to Marlboro for the first regular-season meeting between the two programs.
The Patriots fell behind early.
Then everything changed.
Freehold Township responded with 20 unanswered points, turning a 6–0 deficit into a convincing 20–6 victory.
One year later, the local rivals meet again.

Marlboro struck first and grabbed an early 6–0 advantage, putting the Patriots in the position of having to respond on the road.
They did.
Freehold Township took control of the game, shutting out the Mustangs the rest of the way while the offense put 20 unanswered points on the board.
The 20–6 victory moved the Patriots to 3–2 and became another important milestone during the program's first varsity season.
A YEAR LATER
The circumstances will be different in 2027.
Neither program is new anymore.
Both Freehold Township and Marlboro launched varsity girls flag football in 2026, giving the players on both sides something they didn't have when they first met — a full season of experience.
Freehold Township finished its inaugural campaign 3–5, while Marlboro finished 3–9.
Now both programs enter Year Two looking to turn experience into progress.
A RIVALRY BUILT TO GROW
Freehold Township and Marlboro aren't just division opponents.
They're neighbors.
Both programs are part of the Freehold Regional High School District, and the schools are separated by only a short drive.
That familiarity creates the ingredients for something bigger than an ordinary regular-season game.

And after Freehold Township took the first meeting, Marlboro will have an opportunity to answer in 2027.
