FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP vs. SHORE REGIONAL
GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL
A CHANCE TO ANSWER BACK.
When Freehold Township and Shore Regional meet again in 2027, the Patriots will have a score to settle.
The programs met during Freehold Township’s inaugural season on April 24, 2026, with the Patriots traveling to Shore Regional for an important Central Division matchup.
That afternoon belonged to the Blue Devils.
Shore 20. Freehold Township 0.
One year later, the Patriots get another opportunity.
THE 2026 MATCHUP
SHORE REGIONAL 20
FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP 0
Freehold Township entered the 2026 meeting coming off consecutive victories over Ranney and Marlboro and looking to continue the momentum of a promising stretch during its first varsity season.
Shore stopped it.
The Blue Devils kept the Patriots off the scoreboard and came away with a 20–0 victory.
For a first-year Freehold Township program, it was another lesson in what it takes to compete against established Shore Conference opponents.
In 2027, the Patriots will look to show how much they learned from it.
A DIFFERENT FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP TEAM
The Patriots who take the field against Shore in 2027 won't have the same level of experience as the team that made the trip to West Long Branch a year earlier.
They'll have an entire varsity season behind them.
They'll have experienced winning streaks, close games, difficult losses and the pressure of competing in the Shore Conference.
Most importantly, they'll know what to expect.
SHORE REGIONAL
Shore proved to be a tough Central Division opponent during the 2026 season.
The Blue Devils finished 5–5 overall and 5–4 in the division, placing them ahead of Freehold Township in the final Central standings.
Their 20–0 victory over the Patriots was part of a season in which Shore scored more than 200 points.
That makes the 2027 matchup another important measuring stick for Freehold Township.
KEYS TO THE REMATCH
Get on the Board Early — Freehold Township was shut out in the first meeting. An early scoring drive could completely change the complexion of the rematch.
Create Explosive Plays — The Patriots need to find ways to get their athletes into space and force Shore to make difficult open-field flag pulls.
Protect the Football — Every possession matters against an opponent capable of putting points on the board.
Make Defensive Stops — Keeping Shore from creating momentum will be critical.
Use the Experience — The Patriots entered the 2026 matchup as a first-year program. They enter 2027 knowing exactly what Shore can do.
SOMETHING TO PROVE
Not every important game in a program's history is a victory.
Sometimes the losses become just as important.
They show you where you are.
They show you where you need to improve.
And they give you something to remember the next time you meet.
Freehold Township remembers April 24, 2026.
Now comes the opportunity to write a different ending.
