The programs met for the first time during the 2026 season.
But that first chapter never got the ending it deserved.

HALFTIME — GAME POSTPONED
On April 30, 2026, Freehold Township traveled across town to face Freehold Borough.
The first half couldn't have been much closer.
Freehold Borough held an 8–6 advantage at halftime before the game was postponed.
Instead of a final score, the first meeting between the programs ended with unfinished business.
That makes the 2027 matchup even more interesting.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
There was no decisive first victory.
No final whistle.
No opportunity for either team to walk away with full bragging rights.
Just two points separated the Patriots and Colonials when their first meeting was interrupted.
For Freehold Township, 2027 represents an opportunity to finish what started a year earlier.
For Freehold Borough, it's a chance to build on the advantage it held when play stopped.
This time, both teams will be looking for a definitive result.
YEAR TWO FOR BOTH PROGRAMS
The 2026 season was about building.
Freehold Township finished its inaugural campaign 3–5, scoring 96 points while allowing 129.
Freehold Borough finished 1–7, scoring 73 points while allowing 205.
Those records now become history.
Both programs enter 2027 with something they didn't have when they first met:
A full season of varsity experience.
Players understand the game better.
Coaches have another offseason to develop their systems.
And both programs enter Year Two knowing what it takes to compete at the varsity level.

Freehold Township vs. Freehold Borough doesn't need much help becoming a rivalry.
These are two schools representing the same greater Freehold community.
Players have grown up near each other.
Some have competed with or against one another for years.

Finish Drives — In a close rivalry game, opportunities in the red zone need to become touchdowns.
